I have being going for physiotherapy with Mary Walsh at Westphysio for a number of years.
I have picked up a number of injuries over the years which are sport related and more significantly I broke my neck back in 1992 so that has lead to a lot of stiffness, episodes of sciatica and disc problems.
Thankfully due to physiotherapy both in terms of rehabilitation after injury and prehabilitation to prevent injury I have been able to continue my involvement in sport. Mary uses a technique called Myofascial release which helps me with my flexibility.
So my continued treatment has helped me be as active as possible. For example I was able to complete a long distance triathlon (Ironman) two years ago.
So for me physio is all about maintenance in order to keep me active.
