Your Health Insurance Policy can cover a portion or all of the cost of Physiotherapy and Acupuncture treatments and Pilates classes too.
Each of the physiotherapists working at the clinic are proud members of the ISCP (Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists) and CORU (Ireland’s multi-profession Healthcare Regulator, striving to protect the public). Affiliation to these official regulatory bodies allows health insurance providers to validate and process your health insurance claim promptly.
The level of cover depends on your specific health insurance policy. To assist you in claiming back your treatment session cost against your Health Insurance Plan the following information may be helpful.
Receive your Invoice:
After each treatment session with us, we will send your personal invoice via email directly after payment or print out the invoice, according to your preference.
Make your Claim - Health Insurance Providers:
Check the details of your own individual health insurance policy. To understand the benefits that your plan includes, log into your customer account online, in App or contact Customer Support. If your employer covers your health insurance, contact someone in the HR department of your workplace for the details.
Submit your receipts within a reasonable timeframe. This usually means within your current renewal period, with some insurance companies allowing submission of receipts for the previous 2 or 3 years.
Health insurance providers have created phone apps that have features to facilitate making your claim. For example:
- VHI App - “Snap and send” a photo of your invoice to claim back on the cost of your treatment session. VHI will usually remit the money straight to your bank account within 10 working days. You can also do it the old reliable way with a Claims Form found at this link here: https://www.vhi.ie/downloads/day-to-day-claim-form.pdf
- LAYA App - Enables you to upload or take a photo of your receipt to claim on your treatment session as well as other features. It is necessary to input some additional information with your claim but the app is very user friendly and you can expect reimbursement within approx. 5 working days.
- Irish Life Health - log into your account to claim back on the cost of your treatment session, There is a member app option available too. You can expect reimbursement within approx. 5 working days. Irish Life Health outpatient claims must be submitted within 6 months of the end of the policy year.
Claiming Tax Relief for Physiotherapy treatment:
The big difference in claiming Tax Relief for physiotherapy is that in order to claim tax relief, you must be prescribed physiotherapy treatment by a Medical Practitioner, (Consultant, General Practitioner etc).
- You can claim relief on health expenses through myAccount or Revenue Online Service (ROS). You can only claim for expenses that you have Receipts for and you can claim relief on the last four year’s health expenses!
