Our Team

Simon Zihlmann

Simon is passionate about empowering people to recover from their pain, achieving their objectives, and getting them back to the things that matter most to them. He will listen to your story and help you get better quicker through the use of hands-on treatments such as dry needling, massage or manual therapy. As things improve Simon will gradually focus on exercise therapy, advice and education, and setting targets to restore function and build self-efficacy. He sees himself as a “coach” not a “fixer” and uses a strength and conditioning approach to give people the confidence to optimise their lifestyle. He also focuses on the use of APPI Pilates to encourage people to stay fit and keep active.

Originally from Canada, Simon graduated from the University of Salford in 2017 and has since worked in a variety of countries including the UK, Canada, and Ireland. He has worked in the public service as a Rotational Physiotherapist in the NHS as well as in private practice settings in Canada and Ireland.

During his formative and adolescent years, Simon competed in Gymnastics and Rowing. He has himself been the recipient of many sessions of Physiotherapy as a teenager due to sporting injuries and knows the challenges people face when seeing a Physiotherapist.

Simon is a keen cyclist and hill walker and is willing to brave the Irish weather no matter the season (as long as he has the appropriate clothing!). He loves travelling abroad and exploring, but has made County Mayo his home due to its friendly people and wonderful places to find and discover.
